Leave Amy a message in her guestbook! Pauline said: Hi there Amy Heard you talking on Australia all Over on Sunday - good for you. Hope all is going to plan and that you are not too exhausted and foot sore. Congratulations to James also - great picture in Canberra Times. Take care. Love from Pauline XXXX Amy replied: Hi Pauline, it seems a lot of people listen to that program! I think he is sick of talking to people who are walking or riding here and there all over Australia, there are a lot doing it! I passed a few bike riders out on the long paddock, but no walkers yet.....I think the walkers are all a bit smarter than I am and walk where there is plenty to see and do without just one bloomin long road in front of them!! Hope you are well, say hi to everyone in Hughes, love Amy James said: Dear Amy Hi my name is James I'm 5 1/2 years old and I go to Radford College Early Learning Centre here in Canberra. When my class friends are sad I give them a hug and that makes them feel better and it makes me feel good too. Where do you get your shoes from? Do you have lots with you or do you buy them on the way? Good luck from James Amy replied: Hi James, wow I think you are the youngest guest book user! I am glad you know how good hugs can be - for both you and your friend. I get my shoes from Sportsman's Warehouse in Canberra, in Fyshwick. I have 5 pairs (Asics Gel-Kayano's) though I am already on my fourth so I may have to buy another pair before I walk into Canberra. It seems the hotter the day is, the hotter the road gets and this isn't great for the bottom of sneakers! Keep up the good work with your hugs James, maybe I'll see you at the walk-in back in Canberra on November 21? Amy Rod and Margaret said: Amy, Can't believe how well you have done, I've just been doing catch-up reading your diary-log. I am delighted for you and the Team and I hope the sun-block is working well, don't want you "frying", there was no fear of that when you were in the UK. Bet you wished you were in the Pub near Tower of London, sinking a few pints at this moment!! Keep up the good work and I hope you are raising shed loads of money for your cause. Clive( your Dad) keeps me posted on your progress and I keep threatening to come back to OZ and see you all again. I hope John Howard is there to greet you when you finish, you deserve it. Love Rod and Margaret Amy replied: Hello! Actually what I wish for most nights is a hot toddy. Suncream has been working well, my poor skin it has had to put up with suncream, zinc on the nose (good look!), rid, more rid as the day goes on, another layer on suncream and a bit more rid in the afternoon. I'm not raising $ with Strength to Speak, it is an awareness raiser - a promotion for the Strength to Speak program that is in schools over Australia. Have you been able to see it yet? You can access it through the same website, just click on the VIDEO tab and you can watch them there. They become live every two weeks, to coincide with when young people in schools are watching each chapter and they also keep track of where I am. Maybe you both should be in Canberra to greet us when we finish! Now that's a good idea! Amy x Louina said: Hello my gorgeous friend! Hope all is well! Thought I'd send you a message instead of playing phone tag all the time! Everything is well here - the wedding was great on the weekend. Love you miss you and thinking of you! Stay strong and we will hopefully talk soon x Amy replied: Hey lovely! Yeah, we sure have been getting good at phone tag lately! Anyway I'm in reception now! Wow, there's a taste of normality. Miss you too, looking forward to talking to you soon. Love Amy Tenille said: Hi Dad, thanks heaps for all the phone calls over the weekend. As you may have guessed I've been having a hard time with it being my birthday and you being gone so it meant heaps to me. But dont worry everyone sorted me out and gave me a few B'day drinks and cheered me up real good and proper. Cant wait to see you, I was thinking when you get a bit closer I might have to come and visit, but we'll see how it goes. Keep your fingers crossed for the job that I applied for. Love you heaps and miss you loads! Tee Brian replied: Hi darlin'. Im glad you had a good birthday. I never doubted you'd find a way to have a good time! Sorry it took so long to reply, but as you know, internet is not a priority out here! Just got off the phone to you, and as I said, it's only 2 months to go today, so I'll be home before you know it. I might even give Amy a but of hurry up to see if she can't go faster. Love you too and I'll keep in touch a lot more now that we're back in range. Karen Burraston said: Hi Amy, my dad is here with me at the moment, you remember I told you he rode his bike along the same route as you last year. My dad, his name is Noel, says he hopes you are staying well and that you are coming up to some very long straight sections of road. Me dad said he ended up riding at night because it was cooler and easier on his eyes. How are the talking books going? I have seen your mum walking around the lake in the mornings. Take care, you're a champion, my dad thinks you are doing wonderful things for someone so young. Love Karen. Amy replied: Hi Karen, thanks for the message! We certainly did come across some looooong straight sections of road. I understand your dad wanting to ride at night, though when I am sleeping I am deaming about walking anyway, sometimes I dont know if I am walking or sleeping! I have been overtaken by three bike riders along the Nullarbor! To ride your bike along there sure does require skill - you can't just veer away from the road whenever an overload or train screams by, you have to stay there and hope that they see you! (Plus you have to carry your own food - I would get bogged down with the amount of food I eat. Take care, see you soon, Amy Sal said: Hi, its so long without a diary update!!! .... just want to say I'm thinking of you and hope its a fascinating inner and outer journey out there! Love ya lots, S Amy replied: Hey Sal, It's been so long without internet and phone reception! But we're getting there, making progress - slowley but surely - it sure is fascinating out here. xx Janet said: Hi there janet here from front office Sullivans Hotel, Perth How are you all going hope the walk is going well. I was thinking about you all last week when I was driving from Adelaide to Mount Gambier.Thinking how far it was to drive let alone walk I went to visit my daughter and was telling her all about it as we were driving along. I wished i had checked where you were before i left but i will sms her as she was very interested in what you were doing. All the best for good weather, safe journey and joyous arrival back albeit that is not for a while . It was nice to meet you all and great to think someone so young cares about people other than herself Good on ya Amy Love Janet ( blond older lady with glasses). Amy replied: Thanks Janet, of course we remember you! We had a great time at Sullivans Hotel, thanks for listening to us rave on about what we were about to embark on...we were all pretty excited!! And of course thanks for letting me take those calls from radio stations through the hotel reception. We were thinking of you just the other week when we heard about all the goings on in Kings Park...pretty scary stuff! If I am ever in Perth again I will be at Sullivans Hotel to say Hi. Amy Neville said: Dear Amy You will recall that you were the Guest Speaker at Scouts ACT's Queen's Scout Dinner in Canberra last December. At the dinner, you spoke about your walk from Brisbance to Canberra, and your passion for helping others. We are now following with great interest your walk from Perth to Canberra in support of the Australian Foundation for Mental Health Reseach, to empower young people to recognise, talk about and help their friends with mental health issues. I am sending out a message on our email network to ACT Scouting members to advise them of your progress, and direct them to the "Strength to Speak" website. I have suggested they check out the information and resources available for young people to understand mental health issues and help themselves and their friends better deal with depression and anxiety. You are an inspiration to all young people, volunteer leaders and supporters of Scouts ACT. As we draw strength from your passion to help others, we hope you can draw strength from the many thousands of supporters who are following your walk. We all wish you the very best as you continue on your walk. As you approach Canberra, a number of Scouts ACT representatives and I will be there to greet you, and to honour you for such an outstanding achievement, with your walk, for most of us, being beyond comprehension. Congratulations on the wonderful work you are doing for all in the community, including our young people. You deserve every bit of recognition you get for your outstanding contribution. Warmest regards Neville Tomkins Chief Commissioner Scouts Australia (ACT Branch) 1 September 2007 Amy replied: What a wonderful message, thank you Neville. I certainly look forward to seeing you and some scouts at the walk in back in Canberra in a couple of months. I have read you message over a couple of times and I still enjoy what you have to say. You know what I am trying to acheive, thanks for taking time to understand the Strength to Speak initiative. I can see that you are are great leader and have a lot to give to the Scouts. Amy Tony said: Hey Amy, Great to hear everything is going along smoothly, except for the knee, the abduction fear, flat battery, gassing, etc :) Keep cruising and enjoying and I hope you see a Camel soon. P.S. I am glad your sharing your singing talents with others! Amy replied: Hey, thanks Tony, yeah all is going extremely smoothly......no camels yet though I think there may be some down the road somewhere. My singing rocks and you know it! Lyn said: Hi Amy, I have been very slack this walk, haven't sent one message. I am amazed at your resilience. How you keep it up day after day amazes me. Keep up the good work. Amy xx Cate and Matt: Hey Amy, keep up the good work, looks like you guys are having a ball!! Enjoy the Nullabor. Bundy keeps a watchful eye on James when we walk past, so all is well back here! Take care, cate and matt Amy replied: Hey Cate! Jules tells me you keep up to date on the website, thanks for that. So sorry I am going to miss the wedding, I am sure you will look the perfect bride. See you late November! xx Mumsy said: Hello Amy. Just when I've worked out how to access your diary you'll be offline for a while. I can't believe you are almost at the Nullabor. Tsar is happy with me taking him for his morning walks although I'm sure he misses clocking up all those extra training miles with you. The photos are great. Looking forward to seeing some of the Nullabor especially at sunset. Look after yourself and keep that sunscreen on! Love Mum Amy replied: Hey mumsy! Finally got to use my laptop so I can put all the messages on the website. We're now nearly finished the Nullarbor...hopefully....getting tired of this place. We saw whales today, a family of 5. It made the whole Nullarbor experience worthwhile! xxx Helen said: Hey Amy! Brilliant - you have gone such a long way! Amy replied: Hey Helen!
